The perfect spot. Accommodating and fulfilling menu, vegans and meat eaters welcome. Great music, old school cafe necessities, can’t go wrong with this one. Staff are patient and love to make good food clearly
MoreBest breakfast ever
A food place to eat. The food is rather standard for a cafe, nothing too special! Although I've only had one experience of the burger, apparently their veggie options are good. I found a few pieces of blue plastic in my burger salad, probably from the veg packaging.. Not idea but it can happen!
More10/10 breakfast today. Visiting for the weekend with a belter of a hangover! The food portions are big here so don't let your eyes get bigger than your belly!Service took a while but it was worth it. At least you know its cooked to order. Will return in future 👍🏻
MorePoor quality ingredients. Nice style, restraunt is cramped. Eggs were not cooked runny. But I would return, everything else was gr8!!
MoreI've been going here for a few years now and it has never ever disappointed me! I'm so glad I can call this café my best and ideal one for brunch in Brighton! Very friendly staff, great food and welcoming atmosphere!
MoreGreat food. Also awesome for veggies 😁
Fun place, friendly staff, well priced and great nachos! Nice to get up above the crowds too :)
MoreLively, characterful upstairs cafe, tasty traditional breakfasts, good value and served by courteous engaged staff. The downside, if any, is the risk of an elbow in the ear when sat down. Cramped booths offset by general cheery atmosphere. Too busy to actually get on the balcony overlooking the jolly buzz of the lanes when we went, but will try to sit outside next time.
MoreOld-school Brighton. One of the few places that hasn't become hideously 'Shoeditched' over the last 15 years. Scruffy and unpretentious. Good food at a modest price. Pleasant staff.
MoreLove this place! Always brilliant food and sitting on the balcony watching Brighton life is great.
MoreBreakfast was great would defiantly recommend friends. Staff friendly and helpful.
MoreLovely coffee milkshake. Good quality and tasty food. The vegan chilli is great in burger or on a jacket potato!
MoreVery nice place, amazing English breakfast, the ideal place for brunch on Sunday but kind of crowded, they also provide students discount
MoreAlways a nice place to visit for a food.
Calm place the perfect place for coffee and cigarettes
The best pancakes I've had. Generous portion sizes at a good price. Great veggie and vegan options which gave me food envy even as I devoured my pancakes. Friendly staff, nice balcony.
MoreBlink and you miss it. Local haven. Down a very busy area of the north Laines. Been coming here since 2007 and love that it hasn’t changed a bit. + Straight up. No nonsense. No fluff grub. + Good. Tasty. Upfront. + Huge choice, like a ridiculous amount of choice. + Feel a world away from the busy street below- Could up the quality of their food a bit considering its in Brighton / local produce. - Outdoor area needs some barrier from pigeons and p**Always gonna be coming back!!
MoreWe stopped because they were dog friendly. After a long wait we had gnats' water instead of an expresso and a warm iced tea.
MoreI came here on the recommendation by my partner. I personally like the atmosphere and it has the retro vibe. I love the sound tracks that they have and characters on the walls epitomises that 80s look. Definitely would recommend it. I think the food was okay, I mean I had the simple cheese/tomato toasty which should of been little more toasted. The hot chocolates were great, sprinkled with marshmallow. Overall happy. I would definitely just touch on the cleanliness - found a lot of dust on the cutlery.
MoreNice guys, cool Sound and absolutly good and tasty breakfast for fair prices
Kensingtons is not the cheapest, nor the most cleanly of places. With that said, it is very comfortable, has some character and very tasty food. Sitting in the balcony is great for a bit of people watching, especially during the summer.
MoreLovely breakfast that caters to all! My friend loved the vegan breakfast, good sized portions too, we couldn’t even finish our meals but all really delicious! I had the veggie breakfast and the veggie sausages were great! Nice little spot overlooking the lanes, a good place to have a quick pit stop away from the crowds for a recharge. Quick service and decent prices too.
MoreGreat food in big quantities for normal cafe pricing. Great and quick service. I feel welcome and will come here much more!
MoreCame by at 9.05am because google said they opened at 9am (and the sign we walked past on the way in said ‘open early‘) but when we got there we were ignored for a while, even though we could see someone walking past us a few times in the back, when he came out he told us they weren’t open yet and to come back in around 20 minutes/half an hour, we asked what time they did open and he said “well 9, but we are still doing prep now”. I would have given a lower rating if it weren’t for the fact that we used to like this place for breakfasts, in the past the food has been nice and the atmosphere good, but not today. The reason we’d come there so early was because our car had broken down nearby and halfords didn’t open for another hour. So don’t come here hopping for a pick me up if you’re already having a bad day!
MoreOne of the best in the lanes, finding a table can be hard, but its been the same for 20 years! :)
MoreGreat food (especially the breakfasts), lovely staff and friendly service. They also do good student deals.
MorePerfect place to eat nachos and burger. It's a lot and it tastes really good. The staff is super nice . You can sit outside or indoors.
MoreA favourite of mine in the lovely setting of the North Laines of Brighton. Situated on a corner on the first floor, above the bustling narrow streets, this is a perfect spot for a coffee or a bite to eat. Particularly pleasant during summer when you sit out on the balcony that gives the place its’ name. For a small location; their menu is huge! Breakfasts, hot plates, sandwiches and all manner of other wonderful sweet and savoury treats are available allDay and made fresh to order from some quality ingredients. Prices range up to around £15 for the bugger plates, and a big tasty sandwich will be ~£5. Takeaway orders are offered for food and drink, and there’s plenty of seating available.
MoreUpstairs above the crowds, serving no-nonsense grub.
They tried but failed with an order for my allergies. I said I had an allergy when ordering so need to e careful with any ingredients. I then ordered and the order arrived with a salad and covered in a dressing so I told them I wouldn't be able to have it. I also checked the ingredients and proved there was something I couldn't have and said normally cant have additives. They returned with my food moved to a fresh plate, but a lot of the chips gone which they got the dressing on and a bowl of curly fries, which of course are covered in additives I cant have. I ended up with a very small meal that was very overpriced for what I got. All they needed to do was say that comes with salad and dressing when I ordered and it could have been avoided.
MoreSuch a great spot, lovely food and really great personal service, no table numbers or order numbers, just your name, such a simple thing but makes all the difference. Food-Great, always, even from the first time I visited a couple of years back, to now today, still sublime. The smaller details on the breakfast like Tomato's and mushrooms were sautéed in fab seasoning! The Milkshakes are a must-try!
MoreNice cafe in Brighton, no frills. Hipster vibe, extensive menu
My favourite place to eat , good tunes aswell
Really love this place. It's a shame it's restricted for space and a strange toilet facility but otherwise a real gem. Good sized food portions and a good choice of food. Caters for vegan and gluten-free. Great music and cosy atmosphere. Would definitely go again :)
MoreNice place to eat when in the Lanes in Brighton. Good choice on menu board. Staff friendly and helpful.
MoreFantastic food, great service, friendly staff. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Pancakes are scrumptious and very generous. Go hungry before eating here
Great music from passionate music loving crew. Great atmosphere and really good grub. Love this place
MoreTasty food and staff were very friendly too!
Really good deals and great value for money. Good for breakfast food as well as lunch and offers a great variety for everyone including vegetarians and vegans. The staff are friendly and the service is pretty quick too. Its got a great atmosphere and good outdoor seating too. Overall can't really be faulted especially considering the low prices and good student deal
MoreCosy place, much food for your money, nice staff, and the play Slayer. I love it!
MoreIt gets quite busy but you can get a seat if you are prepared to wait a while. Good for meat/veggies and vegans
MoreFantastic music selection
Worst ice latte ever. Cold coffee with cold milk and ice-cubes
Great food, goid value. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.
Me and my husband found this place randomly and we live it great food, great atmosphere, great staff, great place. We will be definitely going back soon
MoreI come here every time I'm in Brighton! I love it. The staff are friendly and helpful and the vibe is relaxed without trying to hard with the right music always!I will say the food is overpriced for what it is, the portions are decent sizes but the quality of the food has dipped recently. Ordered a chicken fajita and it was mostly a vegetable mix when I opened up the single fajita. There was also not enough of the sour cream and salsa and *no guacamole*, punishable offense of serving Mexican food!
MoreIn the heart of the North Laine area, ideal for a cuppa, breakfast or lunch.
You might miss this one, as the entrance is a small door with a staircase. Go up and you'll find a greasy spoon disguised in wooden coffee bar get up. It's cosy and welcoming. The food is well portioned, with a decent vegan fry up and a value for money kids deal. No pretentiousness here: coffee is poured out of the jug and into the mug in front of you, proper greasy spoon like, and you add your own milk. Extra marks for oat milk, as I hate it when the non dairy option is soy. Service is fast, and had super patience with my hangover addled indecisiveness.
